You're At Home At Thoreau Elementary School!

All School Assemblies

Please join us to celebrate special events.  Assemblies are held throughout the school year for various occasions.

After School Clubs

You can choose from a variety of topics from foreign language to drama to math.  We also have Math Olympiad and Future Problem Solvers.

Book Fairs

We hold a Book Fair each fall. You and your family can purchase books for home.

The PTO plans family events throughout the school year.  For example, school families and staff gather together in the fall for a pizza party and in the spring a family ice cream party.

Musical Programs

Music conerts are held throughout the school year.  Our school strings program also puts on an annual spring concert.  Parents are always invited to attend these events.

Learning Beyond the School Walls

Field trips, extended field studies, camping and guest speakers are also a part of our learning.  We go to concerts and museums.  We also explore the Arboretum and the School Forest.

Making New Friends

Our classrooms emphasize making and keeping friends.  You will meet our friendly students and staff.

Open House

We have an Open House in September.  Go on a tour of our building and meet our great teachers.

Harry White Horse Project

Look for the Harry White Horse statue in the LMC that was created from a 143 year old oak tree that needed to be cut down on school grounds.

Student Council

Our Council has students who represent from each 4th and 5th grade classroom. Projects have included bake sales to raise money for the homeless and a food drive. They help with the school dance and encourage student pride in our school.  The Student Council proudly gives a gift to the school each year.

Career Day

You'll have the opportunity to listen to a variety of adults share their careers with you during Career Day.

Remember, you're "At Home At Thoreau Elementary School!"
